Week 15 Focus It is very easy to become discouraged and lose focus when you compare yourself with others. They can seem so much more confident or further ahead than you. As soon as you begin to think about how other people are doing it better, or how they might try to sabotage you, you have lost focus. You are now thinking about them rather than yourself. If you want to succeed at whatever it is you are trying to do, there are two questions to be continually asking yourself. ” It is often helpful to write down the answers to these two questions and carry the paper around with you.

That is because they have a different life to live than us. This means their goals, desires, values, priorities, perspectives and struggles are slightly different from ours. Therefore, it is unrealistic to expect them to meet our standards, or to have our interests uppermost in their minds. A good question to ask yourself is why other people should meet your expectations. Another good question to ask yourself is whether you always meet other people’s expectations, or even your own expectations of yourself.

Immediately your challenge becomes figuring out a way, or making something more interesting to others, rather than feeling down about an unsatisfactory situation. Week 23 Grumpiness If you find yourself feeling grumpy or behaving like a grump towards others, don’t just accept it. Figure out why. Re-trace your day until you find the incident that set you off. Then you can decide whether it is worthwhile having a whole day of unpleasantness and grumping around just because of that event. Week 24 Ignore yourself When you are very tired you are likely to be scratchy, irritable and negative.
